SPOT
Mt. Uensiri
At 1,142.3 meters above sea level, Mt. Uensiri is not an outstandingly high mountain, but no other mountain north of this one has such a high elevation.
Since its designation as Mt. Teshio Provincial Nature Park in 1978, the mountain has been well maintained and the number of climbers has been increasing. U en sili means "bad mountain" or "steep mountain" in the Ainu language, and as the name suggests, the mountain has many cliffs.
