Ban'ei Tokachi

The world's only Ban'ei horse race, in which horses weighing over one ton compete in strength and speed on a straight course while pulling iron sleds loaded with weights. The race, which started as a contest of strength between farm horses during the pioneering days of Hokkaido, has been passed down to modern times and is now a moving event for people as a Hokkaido heritage site.
