Local Archives
The Archives exhibits many valuable materials from the pioneering days of Urausu and items related to Ryoma Sakamoto.
The Archives exhibits many cultural assets and heritage of our predecessors who worked hard for the development of Urausu, and hopes to increase interest in cultural and historical materials among the townspeople and many others, and also to contribute to the creation of the culture and enrichment of human life for the future.
In the exhibition area, materials related to Ryoma Sakamoto are displayed along with the belongings of his nephew, Naohiro Sakamoto, and his adopted son, Nao.
Also on display are materials related to Baron Michitoshi Iwamura, the first Commissioner of Hokkaido, and his eldest son, Baron Hachisaku, who pioneered the development of Iwamura Farm.
Other exhibits include excavated materials from the Chashi site, materials on life and industry in the middle of the pioneering period, and historical materials on education and culture.
