SPOT
Nikka Whisky Yoichi Distillery
This distillery was established in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, the father of Japanese whisky. Inside the distillery, surrounded by architecture and abundant nature reminiscent of Scotland, you can learn about the manufacturing methods and processes of whisky. You can also see a museum exhibiting the history of whisky and the origins of Nikka, as well as part of the private home where Taketsuru and his wife Rita lived.
The former Whisky Museum will complete its second phase of construction in January 2023 and reopen as the Nikka Museum. The waiting room will also be reborn as a visitor's center.
