Mokeuni-numa
Mokeuni-numa, designated as a North Okhotsk Provincial Nature Park and wildlife sanctuary and surrounded by magnificent pastureland, is home to many pretty flowers and wetland plants, and in summer the natural flower fields can be viewed from the walking trail.
The swamp was formed by the retreat of the sea after the Jomon Period, about 6,000 years ago, and is divided into three parts: Mokeuni Swamp, Small Swamp, and Swamp No. 1.
Mokeuni means "swamp with dead trees" in Ainu language.
