Mokeuni Swamp
Designated as the Northern Okhotsk Prefectural Natural Park and Wildlife Protection Area, Lake Mokeuni, surrounded by magnificent pastureland areas, has many lovely flowers and wetland plants scattered within it, and in summer, you can view its natural flower field from the walking path.
This lake is a relict lake that was formed by the marine regression after the Jomon period approximately 6,000 years ago, and it is divided into three: Lake Mokeuni, Small Lake, and Lake No. 1.
By the way, Mokeuni, in the Ainu language, means "marsh with dead trees."
