Legend has it that a beautiful Ainu girl walked to this island every day to fulfill her unfulfilled love. Since then, the island has been visited by many women who wish to have children and pray for a good marriage.
The waters of Saihae Beach are rocky and shallow, making it safe for small children to play in the water. The island in front of the beach is a good point for rock fishing.
