SPOT
Shiokari Pass Hitome Senbonzakura
Shiokari Pass has long been known as a famous spot for cherry blossoms, and in mid-May, approximately 1,600 Ezo mountain cherry trees cover the entire pass, boasting their beauty under the clear May skies.
Additionally, cherry trees are planted along both sides of the approximately 14 km round-trip road from Shiokari to 'Minamioka Forest Park,' so why not try taking on the walk?
■ Operation of Special JR Trains
In mid-May, special JR trains are also operated, and Shiokari Pass becomes bustling with cherry blossom viewers. (As the special trains are planned by JR, advance application is required for those wishing to participate.)
