SPOT
Otowa Bridge
A red-crowned crane roost that does not freeze even in the middle of winter
The river over Otowa Bridge, located on the east side of Tsurui Village, is a valuable roost for red-crowned cranes because it does not freeze even in midwinter. The bridge, painted red to resemble a red-crowned crane, attracts many photographers from all over the world who come early in the morning to see the red-crowned cranes resting before they fly to their feeding grounds.
Observe with good manners
Many people are taking pictures and observing the red-crowned cranes on the bridge. Be considerate of your surroundings when taking up a spot. Refrain from shouting, making noise, or any other behavior that may startle or disturb the wildlife. Let's all work together to protect the beautiful marshlands and the natural environment in which these precious red-crowned cranes can live.
