Notsuke Bay
Cradle of the Sea Nurturing Diverse Life
Notsuke Bay, which stretches out like the Notsuke Peninsula, has a water depth of 2 to 5 meters. Eelgrass grows thickly on the relatively shallow bay bottom, providing a perfect habitat for Notsuke's specialty, the Hokkai striped shrimp.
Migratory birds such as whooper swans, green-winged teal, and black-winged teal fly into Notsuke Bay from fall to spring. After resting their wings in Notsuke Bay, these birds fly further north or south.
