Takinoue Valley "Kinsenkyo"

The Shogatsu River that flows through the town of Takinoue is called Takinoue Valley "Kinsenkyo." The Shogatsu River joins with its tributary, the Sakuru River, near Rainbow Bridge in the center of town, where the river narrows and becomes a rapid, creating numerous waterfalls of various sizes. Eventually, the flow slows down and a tranquil space spreads out.

Along both banks of the river, there are foot-friendly woodchip walking paths, which can be enjoyed throughout the year, with fresh greenery reflecting in the clear stream in spring, cool shade in the summer, and autumn foliage in autumn. You can also see alpine plants, a variety of trees, and wild birds. It is also known as a great place for birdwatching, and you may often come across rare small birds.

The scenery in this area is majestic and beautiful, and it is popular as a scenic spot. Locals offer guided tours (for a fee) at Takinoue Gorge, Kinsenkyo.
