Kembuchi Town is a tranquil agricultural town with a population of about 3,000, located in the Kamikawa Subprefecture of Hokkaido. It is situated about 50 kilometers north of Asahikawa City, a major city in Hokkaido, along National Route 40, approximately an hour's drive away. While surrounded by vast nature, it offers the convenience of easy access from major cities.

The climate is characterized by the distinct temperature differences typical of an inland region. Summers are refreshing and pleasant, while winters transform the landscape into a silent, silvery-white world, making the transitions of the four seasons exceptionally vivid. This harsh yet bountiful natural environment has nurtured the warm-heartedness of its people and a strong bond of love for the community.

The primary industry is agriculture, leveraging the fertile land to cultivate high-quality rice and a wide variety of vegetables with great care. Furthermore, Kembuchi Town is widely known as the "Town of Picture Books," a rare distinction nationwide. It began in 1988 when local young people formed the "Kembuchi Picture Book Town Creation Association," and the "Picture Book Museum," which opened in 2004, is a symbol of the town. The museum houses approximately 40,000 picture books collected from all over the world and also offers a nationwide lending service, making it a town full of warmth that nurtures children's dreams and rich sensibilities.
