Alpacas are animals of the camel family that inhabit highland regions of South America, Peru, above 3,500 meters. They are pastured for the purpose of using their wool. Basically, shearing is done once a year. They only have teeth on the bottom, and prefer to eat grass and moss. The alpacas of Viva Alpaca Farm came from Peru, via Nasu Big Farm, to Kenbuchi. They are strong against the cold, and Kenbuchi's snow is also a great favorite. Their lifespan is said to be about 15 to 20 years.
