SPOT
Viva Alpaca Ranch
This alpaca ranch offers a natural setting throughout the four seasons. The environment allows visitors to stroll along the path leading to the top of the mountain and enjoy the view from the top. The slopes are filled with clover and flowers that the alpacas love. In winter, visitors can enjoy tree ice viewing and enjoy the powder snow on the dedicated airboarding slopes! Both adults and children can enjoy themselves. Products made from alpaca hair are sold year-round. A coffee shop is also open on Saturdays and Sundays only.
Alpacas are members of the camelid family that live in the highlands above 3,500 meters in Peru, South America. They are grazed for the use of their hair. Basically, they are shorn once a year. They only have teeth down below and prefer to eat grass and moss. The alpacas at Viva Alpaca Farm came to Kenbuchi from Peru via Nasu Big Farm. They are very tolerant of the cold and love the snow in Kenbuchi. Their lifespan is said to be about 15 to 20 years.
