A Health Management City, with Hyaku-mochi & Dokayuki festivals

Population:74,200
Iwamizawa City continues to develop as a hub for abundant resource development and the collection and distribution of manufactured goods, serving as the central city for administration, industry, economy, education, and culture in the Sorachi region.
With agriculture, centered on rice cultivation, as its core industry, the city is developing new ICT services such as the "Family Health Handbook" and aims to achieve both the health of its citizens and the health of the town under its declaration as Japan's first "Health Management City."
Located in central Hokkaido, it is a city with excellent transportation access, being about 30 minutes from Sapporo City and about 60 minutes from New Chitose Airport, whether by car using the Doto Expressway or by limited express train on the JR line.
The city boasts numerous tourist resources, including a rose garden and hot springs. Events are also held here, such as the "Furusato Hyaku-mochi Festival," where they pound mochi using the world's largest mortar (2.1 meters in diameter, weighing 4 tons) and a 200 kg pestle, and the "IWAMIZAWA Dokayuki Festival," which takes advantage of Iwamizawa's status as one of Hokkaido's snowiest regions to enjoy winter and interact with snow.
