Population:18,400

Bibai City, with a population of about 23,000, is conveniently located between Sapporo and Asahikawa. The eastern hilly area, once a prosperous coal mining town, features Arte Piazza Bibai, a beautiful art park set in a preserved wooden school. The western area is a fertile agricultural region famous for rice, asparagus, and Japan's top haskap berry production. It is also home to Lake Miyajima, a Ramsar site where tens of thousands of white-fronted geese gather. Visitors can enjoy local soul foods like Bibai Yakitori and diverse cycling routes. Bibai is also an eco-friendly city, utilizing winter snow for summer cooling, turning "white diamonds" into sustainable energy.
