Kuriyama Town is located in the Central Hokkaido area, a town of about 11,000 people that boasts excellent accessibility, being about a one-hour drive from the prefectural capital of Sapporo, the aerial gateway of New Chitose Airport, and the major port city of Tomakomai. The town's name originates from the Ainu word "Yam-ni-us-i," which means "a place where chestnut trees grow in abundance."

The topography consists of gentle hills nestled between the magnificent Yubari Mountains and the clear Yubari River, and is blessed with a beautiful natural environment characterized by the distinct four seasons typical of an inland climate. Agriculture, taking advantage of this fertile land, has developed as the key industry, producing a wide variety of high-quality agricultural products. Furthermore, the town functions as a unique "garden city" where not only agriculture (primary industry) but also commerce (tertiary industry), including a historic sake brewery, and a vibrant manufacturing industry (secondary industry) are well-balanced and harmonized.

The high convenience of being near urban centers and the tranquil, beautiful rural landscapes characteristic of Hokkaido coexist comfortably, creating a very livable environment throughout the year. It is a charming town brimming with industrial vitality, a rich culture, and the warmth of its people.
