Furano, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Hokkaido, is a popular sightseeing spot where you can enjoy not only flower fields and gardens represented by lavender fields, but also delicious food such as cheese, wine, and jam, as well as countryside scenery that changes with the seasons. In this issue, we will introduce 10 spots that you should definitely stop by when you drive to Furano.

Furano's representative flower garden, with 80 varieties of flowers, including lavender in full bloom in early summer, decorating the hillsides. The park is divided into 12 flower gardens, where visitors can enjoy a variety of flowers from spring to autumn. Inside the facility, there is a "Hanabito no Ie" (a house for flower lovers) with original lavender goods, and a café where visitors can enjoy lavender soft serve ice cream and sweets. There is also a "Fragrance Experience Room" where visitors can compare lavender oils, allowing them to fully enjoy the charm of the flower.

2. "Ningle Terrace (Furano City)," a fairy tale and fantastic village where dwarfs invite you to visit.
Produced by Satoshi Kuramoto, a screenwriter known for his "Kita no Kuni Kara" series, Ningle Terrace is a craftsman's village in the Furano forest. Ninguru refers to the "forest wise men," dwarfs about 15 cm tall who live in the forests of Hokkaido and appear in Satoshi Kuramoto's stage play "Ninguru. There are more than a dozen small stores that handcraft original works of art, and visitors can purchase a variety of handmade works, including those made from Furano's trees. It is a mysterious forest that makes you feel as if you have wandered into a fairy tale world.

3. Furano Cheese Factory (Furano City) is the place to taste fresh Furano milk
This cheese factory is located in a rich natural setting amidst a white birch forest. In addition to cheese made from fresh Furano milk, they also make and sell iced milk made from Furano fruits and vegetables. Visitors can take a tour of the cheese production room and aging room through glass windows, and enjoy freshly baked pizza made with locally grown onions at the attached café.

4. Furano Jam Garden (Furano City), a jam-making experience in the great outdoors
Furano Jam Garden is located in the village of Furano surrounded by nature, about 20 km from downtown Furano. Using high quality crops grown in the great outdoors, they sell jams made with great care, using less sugar and condensing the flavors of the ingredients as they are. Visitors can try their hand at jam making, and can take home their own original labels.

5. Furano Wine House (Furano City): Enjoy the magnificent countryside and Furano's seasonal produce
Furano Wine House is located on top of a gently sloping hill overlooking Furano city, and offers a magnificent panoramic view of the endless rice paddies and the Tokachi Mountain Range, as well as gourmet food made from Furano products. You can enjoy dishes that make full use of Furano's proud ingredients, such as the popular Furano-style cheese fondue, Furano cheese, and Furano wine.

6. Kaze no Gardens (Furano City), an English-style garden filled with seasonal flowers
The 2,000 m2 British Garden was the setting for the TV drama "Kaze no Garden. The garden boasts approximately 20,000 plants and more than 400 varieties of flowers each season, mainly of the varieties of perennial grasses that are suited to the northern climate. As you walk along a path through the flower garden, you will be welcomed by the "Green House" that appeared in the TV drama, just as it did in the story.

7. Furano Music Box Store (Furano City): Healing sounds that make you forget about time
Furano Music Box Museum is a representative spot in Furano, with more than 8,500 music boxes of various sizes and types, including limited-edition music boxes, glass and ceramic music boxes, and about 1,000 other items. At the handmade experience corner, you can choose your favorite music box and glass accessories to create your one and only original music box.

8. Domaine Raison (Nakafurano Town), a winery that harnesses the power of goats and nature
This winery allows visitors to interact with goats. Visitors can tour the winery and purchase their wines at the store. At the "Grill & Farmhouse Restaurant Yagi Cafe," visitors can enjoy soft-serve ice cream and parfaits made with goat's milk, and hamburgers made with 100% beef from Hokkaido.

9. "Jingisukan & Fureai Farm Hitsuji no Oka (Nakafurano Town)" where you can enjoy the quality of the ingredients in a spectacular setting.
This is a famous Jingisukan restaurant where you can enjoy fresh Jingisukan meat on the terrace with a view of the rolling hills. The best breed of mutton is grilled over charcoal and served with two kinds of handmade sauce. The specialty of this restaurant is not seasoning the meat, but using the original sauce that is lightly seasoned with the flavor of raw meat. The restaurant is well known for its original Jingisukan taste and attracts many Jingisukan fans from all over Japan.

10. Lake Kanayama Forest Park (Minami Furano Town): Picturesque lavender fields and lakes
The lavender fields at Lake Kanayama Forest Park are a spot where you can enjoy the lake and lavender at the same time. On windless days, the green mountains are reflected on the surface of Lake Kanayama like a mirror, and visitors can enjoy the coexistence of the lavender fields and the lake. Visitors can also freely pick hashcups in the hashcup field located in the corner of the lavender field.
