The popular souvenir "Hokkaido Dice Caramel" is now available in a pouch! The history and lineup of Dice Caramel
Hokkaido's signature souvenir, "Hokkaido Saikoro® Caramel," has been made into an identical cube-shaped pouch! We'll tell you what kind of pouch it is and what "Hokkaido Saikoro Caramel" is.
From Meiji Dice Caramel to Hokkaido Dice Caramel
Hokkaido Dice Caramel is a representative Hokkaido confectionery manufactured and sold by Dounan Foods Co., Ltd. in Hakodate. Many people may know that Meiji Co., Ltd. (formerly Meiji Seika) has been selling "Meiji Dice Caramel" since 1927. However, production of the Dice Caramel ended in March 2016.
The catchphrase was created with the desire to spread the word from Hokkaido to the whole country.
In June of the same year, in response to the many voices of regret, Dounan Foods, which was responsible for manufacturing Meiji Dice Caramel, revived it under the name "Hokkaido Dice Caramel." At that time, some of the ingredients were changed to Hokkaido products, and the design of the "1" mark was changed from the Meiji mark to the Hokkaido mark, and it has remained that way ever since.
Also available in a package of 5
Inside the red and white dice-shaped package are two large brown caramel pieces. When you put one in your mouth, the milky taste that has remained unchanged since ancient times fills your mouth. After you eat it, it also becomes a dice, and these dice are famous for being used in the "Dice Journey" segment of the popular TV show "How Do You Like Wednesday?".
