A man waving a flag with a powerful stance greeted the ferry. On social media, voices were heard saying, "It's a little scary" and "What are they doing?" alongside comments like "This brings back memories" and "Welcome back." What is this all about? We spoke to the original poster, Yamatoya.
The Welcome from the Legendary Inn "Momoiwaso"
Momoiwaso Youth Hostel on Rebun Island, Japan's northernmost remote island
This was the welcome from "Momoiwaso," a youth hostel on the west coast of Rebun Island. Yamatoya, who was visiting the island during a trip around Japan, had heard rumors of "a crazy inn" and decided to stay at Momoiwaso Youth Hostel out of morbid curiosity. This flamboyant flag-waving was a performance by the staff to welcome the arriving guests.
This view right outside the inn is just insane, I'm speechless.

While the stunning view from the inn is a given, the reason Momoiwaso is so famous is its heartfelt hospitality. Starting with an all-out welcome, unique events like a nightly social gathering where guests sing and dance together create a sense of unity and warmth.
