Feriendorf, nestled in the forests of Tokachi, Hokkaido, is a rare glamping resort where you can stay with your pets. "I'm looking for a trip with my children that everyone can enjoy." — Feriendorf, located here in Nakasatsunai Village, Tokachi, is the place that makes these wishes come true. Many guests visit from urban areas like Sapporo and Kitahiroshima. From Sapporo, it's about a 3.5-hour drive, a perfect distance for a family road trip.

Upon arrival, you'll be amazed by the vast 100,000-tsubo (approx. 330,000 sqm) grounds spread throughout the forest. Log cottages and glamping tents with a comforting woody warmth line the property. Of the 90 buildings, 45 are available for lodging, each equipped with a kitchen and shower for a comfortable stay. Among them, the nine pet-friendly cottages are especially well-equipped for dog lovers, accommodating everything from small to large breeds. There's even a built-in cage inside, and dogs can roam freely on the first floor. We actually brought a pet along to experience it firsthand.

Each cottage accommodates up to 5 people (maximum of 6 with an extra bed).

The cottage balcony is also spacious. You can enjoy activities like birdwatching.

In addition to dogs, the pet-friendly cottages also welcome small animals like parakeets and rabbits, as long as they are brought in a cage. The grounds also feature a spacious 800 sqm dog run and walking trails surrounded by greenery, creating an ideal environment for a relaxing time with your dog. Furthermore, pet amenities such as jerky made from venison sourced by local hunters are available, making the trip with your pet even more special.

There are three BBQ courses available, as well as an indoor shabu-shabu course.

On the terrace next to the cottage, it's time for the ultimate glamping experience! You can enjoy an authentic BBQ without bringing a thing. There are three recommended BBQ courses for dinner. The most popular "Aya" course features mains like "Kamikomi Pork Steak," "Nakasatsunai Inaka-dori BBQ Chicken," and "Lamb," along with about eight other dishes that enhance the outdoor mood, such as cold-smoked edamame, ajillo, and roasted marshmallows. The luxurious lineup, packed with local ingredients from Tokachi, Hokkaido, is incredibly appealing.

The shop sells handmade nuts and mayonnaise from the on-site cold-smoking facility "REIKUN," as well as Feriendorf-exclusive craft beer and wine. Bringing snacks and drinks purchased here will make your BBQ time even more enjoyable! A meal enjoyed in nature is exceptional, and on the pet-friendly terrace, you can dine leisurely with your dog.

At the shop, you can purchase products from the cold-smoking facility "REIKUN" and local specialties.

Charcuterie from ELEZO and seasonings from REIKUN would make great souvenirs.

Furthermore, during your stay, you can use the hot springs and sauna at the adjacent "Tokachi Airport Spa Sora" for free! The free-flowing natural Moor hot spring features brownish, silky water that will soothe your travel fatigue to the core. With a sauna, a relaxation space, and an open-air bath, you can enjoy a healing experience and lose track of time.

The free-flowing Moor hot spring, also designated as a Hokkaido Heritage site, has brownish, silky water.

The Finnish-style sauna features an auto-löyly system using world-renowned Harvia sauna equipment.

Feriendorf is full of facilities for all ages to enjoy nature, including a dog run, an athletic playground for children, and rental bicycles. The entire property is surrounded by forest, and a morning or evening stroll might lead to encounters with birds and squirrels you rarely see in the city. When we visited in June, bracken was growing, and the plants and flowers on the grounds show different faces with each season.

In the morning, you'll wake up to the sounds and scents of the season, like the chirping of birds and the rustling of leaves in the wind. You can brew coffee in your cottage kitchen or enjoy a warm breakfast made with local ingredients at "Cafe Dinkels." The quiet morning time, enveloped by the forest, deepens the special feeling of your trip.

The Japanese breakfast includes options like ochazuke (rice with tea) and gyutoro-don (raw beef flake rice bowl).

After checking out, there are plenty of nearby tourist spots like the "Nakasatsunai Art Village" and "Michi-no-Eki Nakasatsunai." The popular "Hanabatake Farm" is only about a 5-minute drive away. At the farm, you can enjoy caramel and milk-flavored soft-serve ice cream, interact with goats, and find smiles on the faces of both children and adults.
