On Saturday, July 26th, 2025, the "Shogi Japan Series JT Professional Tournament Hokkaido Tournament" will take place at the Sapporo Convention Center. In this tournament, where 12 top professional players compete in public matches, local Hokkaido native Akihito Hirose 9-dan will face off against the formidable Masayuki Toyoshima 9-dan in the third match of the first round. All eyes are on the intense battle of wits that will unfold on the board.

To commemorate the Hokkaido Tournament, the "Shogi Japan Series Hokkaido Tournament Commemorative Players' Talk Event Supported by Domingo" was held on the eve of the match. Domingo is proud to support the Hokkaido Tournament! Just like last year, a video of the event will be released on YouTube after it concludes! It was a rare opportunity to see the players in a more relaxed setting, different from their serious demeanor during matches.

Fun for Beginners Too! The "TableMark Children's Shogi Tournament" Held Concurrently
Additionally, on Saturday, July 26th, the "TableMark Children's Shogi Tournament" will be held alongside the "Shogi Japan Series JT Professional Tournament" in the main hall of the Sapporo Convention Center. The "TableMark Children's Shogi Tournament" is Japan's largest children's shogi tournament, aimed at sharing the joy of shogi with kids. The day will be filled with various events, including skill-testing matches, fun matches, a piece-grabbing challenge, a piece-arranging challenge, tsume-shogi (mating puzzles) quizzes, a shogi school, and simultaneous instruction games. Participants in the children's tournament can also watch the JT Professional Tournament matches afterwards. (Please note that registration for the "TableMark Children's Shogi Tournament 2025 Hokkaido Tournament" has already closed.)
