Sapporo City Designated Garbage Bags with "Striped Enaga" motif are cute! New Design Adopted from a Student's Work

Sapporo City's new garbage bag design is getting a lot of attention for its cuteness! The design proposal, which was chosen from a public contest from students in the city, has received comments such as "I want it as a souvenir" and "I love Sapporo...". シマエナガデザインのごみ袋 シマエナガデザインのごみ袋

Designer: Ms. Yuna Kudo, Hokkaido College of Art and Design (a.k.a. bisen), Bisen Gakko-Gakuen

The design adopted was a lovely zebra finch gazing at a plant sprout. It was selected as the Grand Prize winner in a design competition for a demonstration experiment to reduce plastic waste by using designated garbage bags instead of plastic shopping bags.

Mr. Kudo, the creator, commented on the design.

I created this design based on the image of a zebra finch looking forward to the abundance of nature. We are happy that the designed garbage bags have been well received not only by Sapporo residents but also by people outside Hokkaido, who have called them "cute" on SNS and other social networking sites.

We hope that many people will use them and that they will help reduce the number of plastic bags.
