Adorable "Shima Enaga" Themed Sapporo City Garbage Bags! Local Student's Artwork Selected for the New Design
Creator: Yuna Kudo from Hokkaido College of Art & Design (commonly known as bisen)
The chosen design features an adorable Shima Enaga (long-tailed tit) gazing at a plant sprout. It won the grand prize in a design competition for a pilot program aimed at reducing plastic waste by encouraging the use of designated garbage bags instead of purchasing plastic shopping bags.
We received a comment from the creator, Ms. Kudo, about her design.
I created this design with the image of a Shima Enaga eagerly waiting for nature to flourish. I'm delighted to see that this garbage bag design has been so well-received on social media, with people calling it 'cute' not only from Sapporo but from outside of Hokkaido as well.
I hope that many people will use it, and that it will lead to a reduction in plastic shopping bags.
These garbage bags are scheduled to be sold at supermarkets within Sapporo City starting from February 2025. If you see them, be sure to pick one up!
Special Thanks: Yuna Kudo
