My grandfather's stove, which hasn't been plugged in for about 20 years, is making noise.

I was told I didn't know anything about it. I don't know why it's still making noise even though it's been unplugged for 20 years...

This post led to various speculations, such as "Is it a power leak?" and "Maybe there's a dwarf living inside the stove!", but the actual cause was hidden in an unexpected place.

It turned out that it wasn't a stove...it was a fire alarm on the ceiling!

It has been revealed

After removing the stove, the noise started even though there was nothing there. I looked at the ceiling and this was ringing

Nope. Dismantled the stove. Carried the heavy stove out from the second floor. I wasted a lot of time

In a later post, it was revealed that the sound was actually a fire alarm, which had nothing to do with the stove. The poster said that after removing the stove, the sound continued, so when he looked up at the ceiling, he realized that the fire alarm was the culprit.

Fire alarms are battery operated and have a lifespan of about 10 years. When the battery is about to run out, a warning beep sounds to remind you to replace it. The sound goes off every few minutes to a few hours, so it can be hard to tell if you are not used to it.

After discovering the source of the sound, the poster said with a wry smile, "I assumed the stove was the cause and disassembled it." Looking back, he said, "I should have asked on social media sooner," but he readily agreed to share the information, saying, "There are probably many people out there who are due for a replacement soon."
