Winter Biei photos become a hot topic for being "too beautiful" → The photographer is aspiring to be a farmer to protect the scenery, "I want to be one of the people who create the landscape of this hill"
Biei, located almost in the center of Hokkaido, is a popular tourist destination known as the "town of hills." Many tourists visit to see the colorful scenery that changes with the seasons. A photo capturing the beautiful winter scenery of Biei town has become a hot topic on social media. In addition to its beauty, the person who took the photo, Tomohiro Tsuboi, is studying to become a farmer in the town in order to protect this scenery.
Beautiful dawn in Biei, Hokkaido
The photo was taken by Biei-based photographer Tomohiro Tsuboi (HN: donchan). The beautiful blue and pink gradations have garnered about 100,000 likes on social media, with comments such as "It looks like a page from a picture book," "It's so beautiful, I was entranced," and "The colors of a gentle world."
"I want to become a farmer who creates the landscape of these hills." Attracted by the scenery of Biei, he moved there
Tsuboi-san moved to Biei because he was attracted by the beautiful hills there when he was transferred there for work. We asked him about his feelings towards the scenery of Biei.
Biei Town is full of once-in-a-lifetime scenery, with trees being cut down and crops being planted changing every year. It is appropriate to call it "365 seasons" rather than "four seasons," and I thought it would be nice to live while being able to see such scenery up close.
Now I'm starting to think that anyone can take pictures of the Biei scenery from the road, so I decided to take a step further and study to become a farmer who creates the scenery of this hill. By photographing the scenery from there and the hard work of farmers, I hope to be able to convey to many people the origins of the land of Biei.
"Biei is beautiful today too" Living with the once-in-a-lifetime scenery
Tsuboi continues to report on the ever-changing landscape of Biei. He works as a farmer in the summer and a photography guide in the winter, and also sells original products using the photos he takes. Because it is a popular tourist destination, there are frequent discussions about maintaining the landscape, but Tsuboi is a stakeholder in protecting the landscape, and is trying to preserve and share it.
Be sure to experience the beautiful scenery of Biei, which Tsuboi loves so dearly.
