Photographer Tetsuro Kobayashi, Capturing "Everyday Otherworlds"
The person who posted this photo is Tetsuro Kobayashi, a photographer whose theme is "everyday otherworlds," such as factory landscapes, alleyways, ruins, and giant structures. While he photographs factories all over Japan, he says Muroran is a favorite spot because the steelworks can be photographed from various locations within the city, including Mt. Sokuryo, the Wanishi district, and Shiomi Park. In addition to photographing the factories themselves, he enjoys strolling through Muroran, saying, "It's also fun to walk around the city, which has a charming atmosphere as a city of iron, and take pictures."
Recently, Mr. Kobayashi has been photographing not only factories but also "cityscapes with cats." He says Muroran has many cats, providing endless photo opportunities. The contrast between the rugged impression of the factories and the gentle presence of the cats is another one of Muroran's charms.
Events to Experience the Fun of Strolling and Photographing Muroran's Factories
In addition to his own photography, Mr. Kobayashi is also involved in activities that teach photography techniques and how to create viral content on social media. At the annual "Tori Fes in Muroran" event, he holds valuable workshops where participants can get guidance on factory photography and city walks. Why not walk through the "City of Iron" with a camera in hand this year and discover its new charms?
