It's a heartwarming everyday scene from the ranch that is sure to bring a smile to your face.

In the video, while the other foals are standing, one is lying down with not just its head but about half of its body sticking out of the fence. This incredibly carefree sleeping posture (?) has garnered over 4,000 likes on social media, with users commenting, "Did you stick your head out because you wanted to eat the grass outside the fence?" "So cute how it's licking and munching," and "Maybe it's just sleepy..."

"What are you doing...?" Even the Ranch Staff Were Surprised

This foal lives at Konishi Farm, a facility in Hidaka, Hokkaido that breeds Thoroughbreds and nurse mares. The foal in the video is named "Mashallow" and is affectionately known as "Ma-bo." According to the farm staff, Ma-bo is a big eater and the largest of the foals, but also has a very timid personality.

When the farm staff first saw the foal in this position, their first thought was, "What are you doing...?" It looked like it might hit its body on the fence if it tried to stand up, but with a little bit of panic and support from the staff, it was able to get up safely.

In fact, Ma-bo once had an episode where it escaped by jumping over a fence as tall as a person when its mother, a nurse mare, was sent to care for another foal. Today, Ma-bo continues to spend its days freely at the lush ranch in Hidaka, Hokkaido.
