How Did This Playful Barcode Design Come to Be?

Snow Brand Hokkaido Butter

What's the story behind this unique barcode design? We spoke with a representative from Megmilk Snow Brand, the manufacturer of Snow Brand Hokkaido Butter, to find out.

We wanted customers who pick up our product to imagine the magnificent scenery of Hokkaido's farms, even if just for a moment. So, without altering the historic packaging of Snow Brand Hokkaido Butter, we added this creative touch to the barcode area.
This design barcode has been in use since around 2013.
