A Miraculous Scene Born from a Single Night on a Family Trip

The photographer is HARLOCK. One night in November 2022, while on a family trip in Hokkaido, he checked the weather forecast and saw that “one area was miraculously clear.” He rushed to the location by car and encountered this Harunire (Japanese elm) tree.
“Time flew by in the blink of an eye as I gazed at the beautiful scenery,” HARLOCK recalls. He mentioned that even astrophotography, which usually takes a long time, became a special moment that day.

When asked about his impression of Hokkaido, HARLOCK shared his thoughts.
Every view is so stunning that I find myself stopping the car to take pictures all the time, so it's hard to make any progress (laughs). It's a place I want to visit whenever I have the time. I would love to continue photographing the starry skies of Hokkaido through all four seasons.
This single shot of the “star-bearing tree,” born from a chance clearing in the weather, looks like a scene straight out of a storybook. The landscapes of Hokkaido captivate visitors time and time again, and their beauty is now being shared with many through photography.
