Rausu Town, Hokkaido, is home to the expansive sea of Shiretoko, a World Natural Heritage Site. In these waters, a rare "white orca" is sometimes spotted, becoming a major topic of conversation. But did you know there's a unique post box inspired by this white orca? The charmingly designed "White Orca Post Box" is now gaining attention on social media, making everyone want to snap a photo.

The photo shows a blue post box featuring a white orca holding a letter! The blue color of the post box is inspired by the Shiretoko sea, creating a very eye-catching and adorable design. This post has garnered over 5,000 "likes" and received comments like, "The design is so intricate," "What a cute post box!" and "I'm definitely going!"

The White Orca-Inspired Post Box Was Installed in 2025

This "White Orca Post Box" was installed at the Rausu Post Office in September 2025. It was donated to the town by Shiretoko Nature Cruise, a company that operates cruise ships for viewing dolphins and orcas in the Shiretoko sea. The design was created by Rausu resident Mari Hasegawa.
