A Must-Visit! Adorable White Orca Postbox in Shiretoko Goes Viral, Praised as 'Absolutely Lovable'
In Rausu Town, you'll find the "White Orca Postbox," a sight that will make you want to take a picture. It features a sculpture of a white orca, like those seen off the coast of Rausu, on top of the postbox, with a charming design of orcas painted on the body as well. It's located in front of the Shiretoko Nature Cruise office, so be sure to look for it when you visit Rausu.

The photo shows a blue postbox featuring a white orca holding a letter! The blue color of the postbox is inspired by the Shiretoko sea, creating a very eye-catching and adorable design. This post has garnered over 5,000 "likes" and received comments like, "The design is so detailed," "What a cute postbox!" and "I'm definitely going."
The White Orca Postbox Was Installed in 2025

This "White Orca Postbox" was installed at the Rausu Post Office in September 2025. It was donated to the town by Shiretoko Nature Cruise, which operates cruise ships to see dolphins and orcas living in the Shiretoko sea. The design was created by Rausu resident Mari Hasegawa.
