Mirror-like Rice Paddies (Higashikawa Town)
This is the view from the Kitoushi Observatory, a scenic spot in Higashikawa Town.
Known for its rice production, Higashikawa Town features vast, mirror-like rice paddies during the planting season, creating a breathtaking panorama from the observatory.
This shot was timed perfectly to capture the light of the setting sun.

The townscape, sparkling as it reflects the sunset marking the end of the day, is a sight unique to this rice-producing region with its expansive paddies.
In Higashikawa, rice planting begins in mid-May. Before that, a traditional rice planting festival called 'Otaue-sai' is held, featuring rituals by Shinto priests and 'kagura' dances by shrine maidens to pray for a bountiful harvest.
We also look forward to the autumn view, when the rice ears ripen and the fields turn a beautiful golden color! 🌾

This is a beautiful spot for lupines, and the massive cloud makes the scene even more picturesque.

This day's 'close encounter' was with a 'moo-moo' (a cow) in the rapeseed-scented Maruka Highlands! At 1 year and 8 months old, every day surrounded by nature is full of discoveries! ( ﾟдﾟ)

At Maruka Highlands, you can find not only cows but also grazing sheep. There's also an observatory near the summit, offering many experiences. We'd love to visit!
