Kitahiroshima City is a great place to experience delicious food, sweets, and autumnal cooking, all of which are unique to this season and region.
This is the fourth installment of Domingo's month-long collaboration with towns in Hokkaido, and this time we focus on Kitahiroshima City!
For four weeks, we will provide you with information on how to enjoy the city and its specialties.

In this article, we will give you an overview of Kitahiroshima City and introduce some recommended spots where you can enjoy gourmet foods, experiences, and nature to the fullest.

What kind of city is Kitahiroshima City?

Kitahiroshima City in Hokkaido is easily accessible from outside Hokkaido, being only 16 minutes from Sapporo Station and 20 minutes from New Chitose Airport by JR Rapid Airport train.
The city has a population of 57,850 (as of September 30, 2021) and an area of 119.05㎢. The name "Hiroshima" comes from the fact that the city was settled in 1884 by 103 people from 25 households in Hiroshima Prefecture.
The city is also attracting attention from inside and outside of Hokkaido with the opening of the "Hokkaido Ball Park F Village" in March 2023, which will include the new baseball stadium of the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters.

When you think of Kitahiroshima City, many people may think of Mitsui Outlet Park Sapporo Kitahiroshima or the much-hyped Hokkaido Ball Park F Village, but there are many "fun with kids" spots in the city.

9:00 - Arrive in Kitahiroshima City! Feel the morning air!

1 Trim Course

This is a perfect course for a sampo, bordered by seven small parks, including Takeba Park, Midoriba Park, and Minami Park. Along the course, the leaves of the Japanese maple trees are beautiful in the fall, and the view from Takeba Park, the turnaround point, is spectacular.

Honey with rich colors and fragrance of each flower, collected during the short flowering season in Hokkaido. The beekeeping and techniques have remained unchanged since the old days, and the honey is produced in a rich natural source.

7 Takeyama Kogen Onsen

This is a popular purely natural hot spring that attracts many visitors from nearby areas.
With the most authentic open-air rock bath in Hokkaido, you can enjoy the atmosphere of a secluded hot spring in a rock bath full of wild nature. Surrounded by the abundance of nature, the Takeyama Kogen Onsen overlooks the beauty of the Tarumae and Eniwa mountain ranges... and in the midst of hot spring water surrounded by seasonal trees, looking up at the stars in the sky and relaxing in the "open-air rock bath" is also a unique attraction of the Takeyama plateau.
The mall hot spring is a purely natural hot spring that has a variety of indications and relaxes both body and soul.

Kita Hiroshima City (Kitahiroshima) is easily accessible from New Chitose Airport, the gateway to Hokkaido.
