Special Exhibition "Science and Technology Learned from Living Things" to Commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Otaru Aquarium: A Touch with the World of Biomimetics

Date and Time

2024/3/16~

*Part of the exhibit will be switched over from July 5 (Fri.) to July 12 (Fri.).

In July 2024, the Otaru Aquarium will celebrate its 50th anniversary.

Thanks to various tools and products created with the advancement of science and technology, our lives have become much richer than they were 50 years ago. Many of the useful tools and products around us are based on technologies that mimic the ecology of living organisms (biomimetics). In other words, we have obtained hints for enriching our society from a wide variety of living creatures.

In this 50th anniversary year of the museum, we have decided to hold a special exhibition on the theme of biomimetics in the hope that this special exhibition will make people aware of the need to preserve the global environment, which preserves biodiversity.
