Hokkaido has been selected by the Japanese government as the host city for the 2024 Drone Summit, which is jointly organized by the national government (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism) and local governments with the aim of implementing drones in society.

What is the Drone Summit?
Drones have been introduced in various fields, contributing to more efficient and labor-saving operations. To this end, the Japanese government is holding a "Drone Summit" to strengthen cooperation among local governments, which are key players in this field.

The summit brings together relevant ministries and agencies (METI and MLIT), local governments, and businesses from across Japan to hold exhibitions, case studies, and symposiums on drones.

About the Use of Drones in Hokkaido
Drones for agricultural use are already widely used in various parts of Hokkaido, and Kamishihoro Town was the first in Japan to begin regular drone logistics operations.

Hokkaido is also working to promote the use of drones by establishing a one-stop drone contact point, holding educational events, and conducting demonstration projects such as drone winter flights.

Drones are expected to be used even more on a daily basis in the future to promote efficiency in various fields. The Hokkaido Government will realize "Drone Field Hokkaido," a land open to drones, by communicating its past efforts and future possibilities to the rest of the country at the "Drone Summit.
