JOGMEC will hold the 12th Geothermal Symposium in Hakodate on Monday, October 21 at Hakodate Civic Hall to introduce the various geothermal resource development initiatives being actively pursued in Hokkaido this year and to disseminate the future prospects of geothermal resources throughout Japan.

Those who wish to participate in the symposium (on-site or online) are requested to register at the special website below. There is no registration fee.

The symposium program includes keynote speeches on geothermal power generation as a clean energy source with low carbon dioxide emissions, the high potential of geothermal power as a stable base load power source, and the future vision that geothermal energy can open up.

In addition, the cross-talk session will feature geothermal ambassador Ken Noguchi, as well as researchers and experts involved in geothermal development as speakers, who will introduce Hokkaido's high geothermal potential, the current status of geothermal development, coexistence with local communities and nature, and efforts to address the challenges of geothermal development. In addition, Hiroyuki Morisaki, leader of the theatrical unit "TEAM NACS," will be invited as a guest speaker, and people involved in businesses such as greenhouse cultivation using geothermal energy will speak about their actual experiences and thoughts on business models, the benefits they bring to individual people's lives, and their prospects.

In addition, companies and organizations involved in various forms of geothermal power generation and related businesses, as well as local governments in Hokkaido, where the symposium will be held, will exhibit their booths at the same venue.

In parallel with the symposium, a two-day "Mystery Solving Geothermal Academia with Kaiketsu Zorori" will be held at Goryokaku Tower from Sunday, October 20 to Monday, October 21, to familiarize children with geothermal energy as a renewable energy source. This event will allow children to learn about geothermal energy in an easy-to-understand manner through a riddle-solving game that even young children can enjoy.
