Akan Ainu Art Week is a three-week event that mixes Ainu crafts and contemporary art from diverse backgrounds in the wilderness of Lake Akan. The Ainu traditions and evolution, such as wood carving, embroidery, and ancient dances that pay homage to ancestors and Kamuy, will be widely introduced, and new works by a variety of artists who were inspired by the rich daily life of the Ainu Kotan and stayed in Akan to create their works will be presented. During the exhibition period, hands-on tours, performing arts, and other programs will also be offered at various locations in the exhibition area.
