Located in Akan Mashu National Park, Kawayu Onsen is a popular tourist spot loved by locals and tourists alike. Located near Lake Kussharo, the unique spring water quality and the attractive nature that can only be found there attract many repeat visitors. However, the number of accommodation facilities, which stood at around 25 in the 1980s, has decreased to just three by March 2020. Teshikaga Town, the Ministry of the Environment, tourism businesses, and people who love Kawayu Onsen have risen to the challenge.

And now, Kawayu Onsen is undergoing major changes.
Let's embark on a special tour that will allow you to learn about the past and present of Kawayu Onsen, a hot spring that has a long history and has been nurtured by many different emotions!

This tour not only allows you to enjoy sightseeing spots and activities, but also allows you to meet "good locals" who live in the area and continue to spread the charm and value of the area. Together with local ambassador Shigeki Takahashi, you will visit three "good locals" and enjoy meeting fascinating people in the Kawayu area community.

<What to bring, clothing, etc.>
Some activities will be outdoors. It may be very cold on the day, so please wear warm clothes that are easy to put on and take off. The recommended items and clothing are as follows:
-Thick outerwear such as down jackets or ski jackets
・Warm pants (for skiing, etc.)
- Cold weather shoes such as rubber boots (Mr. Hagiwara's guide will involve walking through deep snow)
