Taking inspiration from Kochi Prefecture's Yosakoi Festival, this event mixes Naruko and Hokkaido's folk song Soran Bushi, and began with 10 teams and 1,000 participants in 1992. Today, it has grown into an event that sees around 30,000 participants from Japan and overseas, and attracts around 2 million spectators.

At the main venue, Odori Park, you can watch the parade and the performances on stage, and there is also "Waodori Square" where you can join in and there are booths where you can taste food from all over the country. Performance venues are set up in various places in Sapporo. In addition to the energetic choreography, the colorful costumes and makeup are also one of the highlights.
