During the winter, the Shiretoko Cross-Island Road (National Route 334) is closed due to deep snow. In the spring, snow removal work is carried out and the road is usually reopened before Golden Week. Just before the road reopens, the "Shiretoko Rausu Snow Wall Walk" is held, where people walk along the Shiretoko Cross-Island Road.

The experience of walking between "snow walls" that have piled up to a height far beyond one's height is something that can only be experienced here in Shiretoko. You can also observe the snow removal work. The Shiretoko Rausu Snow Wall Walk has a 10km course, where you can enjoy magnificent views of Mt. Rausu, the Nemuro Strait, and Kunashiri Island. It is a valuable experience that can only be had on this one day, and only here in Shiretoko.
