Overview

The Yotaka Andon Festival is an elegant and heroic rice field festival that was handed down in 1977 from Oyabe City, Toyama Prefecture, the hometown of the pioneer, Numata Kisaburo. It is counted as one of the three major Andon festivals in Hokkaido and is the only "Kenka Andon" festival in the prefecture.
The highlight of the festival is the collision of two impressive large lanterns, each measuring 7m high, 12m long and weighing 5t, which attracts many tourists every year.
