Naoko Yako
Using paintings and objects made from everyday objects, the artist explores the psychological distance between children and the unique humanity that can be seen in the heart's desire for the safety of one's family.
In recent years, I have branched out from this and expanded the theme to include my roots and the flow of air in nature, creating works while wondering if I can experience the vibrations of time and air.

He creates three-dimensional works using motifs such as the human body and birds, stuffing cotton into textile materials and sewing them together, and also experiments with incorporating materials he dyes himself. He makes use of the soft properties of the materials to express the warmth and presence felt when coming into contact with life. His major exhibitions include the Sapporo International Art Festival 2020 (cancelled in 2020) and Resonance - Shin Hongo + Contemporary Artists of Hokkaido (Hongo Shin Memorial Sapporo Sculpture Museum, 2024).
