Overview

A fireworks display held at Takashima fishing port for memorial services and prayers for a good catch. The largest in Otaru, with about 4,000 shots, underwater fireworks, and fireworks with readings of prayers for memorial services and a good catch are also held.

The Takashima Fishing Port Summer Fireworks Festival, which began in 1988 when the Takashima Neighborhood Association Youth Division brought hand-held fireworks to Takashima Children's Park, was the last to be held in 2019, the 32nd festival, and was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, the organizing committee was dissolved. Five years have passed since then, and during this time, many people have expressed their desire to see fireworks in Takashima again.

Therefore, the Otaru Takashima Fireworks Executive Committee has been formed, centered around residents and businesses with ties to Takashima, and will be holding a new fireworks display to enliven Takashima and Otaru even more than before, while continuing the history of fireworks displays that have been held in the past to offer memorial services and pray for a good catch.
