In conjunction with the 24th Mikasa Hokkai Basin Dance Festival, the Coal Katsugiki Race will be held again this year.
This year, in addition to the prize money, all participants will receive a gift of Mikasa-grown rice!

[Athlete Division - Can you complete the race while carrying 30kg of coal?]
In the preliminary round, participants will carry 30kg bags of coal and run 500m round trip from the starting gate in Central Park to the shopping street, competing for time. There is a 3-minute time limit in the preliminary round. The top 12 participants will advance to the semi-finals, and the 5 finalists will run 1km carrying 30kg bags of coal!

[Group category - Connecting the sash and carrying it with all your heart]
In a team of four, men carry 30kg bags of coal and women carry 10kg bags of coal, and run 250m individually and 1km as a team. The top three teams with the best running times advance to the finals.
