Haikyu!!, a sports manga by Haruichi Furudate, which began serialization in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump in February 2012 and gained popularity for its passionate coming-of-age drama of high school students devoted to volleyball, concluded its eight-and-a-half-year run in July 2020, with a total circulation of over 70 million copies of all 45 volumes of the manga. One of the most popular storylines in the original manga is the third round of the Spring High Tournament, Karasuno High School vs. Nekoma High School. Nicknamed "The Battle at the Dump," the film was released on February 16, 2024, and became a huge hit, grossing over 20 billion yen worldwide.
