The Tobiu Art Festival will be held in September 2025!

This year, we are once again working to improve the forest and the area around the school in preparation for the autumn event. Although forest creation is a small community, we have been working on it since 2011, creating connections that transcend regions and generations.

The Tobiu Art Festival has been held since 2009, and is also an annual event where the forest and school buildings are open to the public. Inside the wooden school buildings, you can see exhibitions of artists related to Tobiu.
Tobiu Forest has been created over many years, with the entire forest considered as one artwork. As time passes, some of the artwork will decay, and the story of Tupiu (the black bird), a myth of the forest, will come to an end, and a new path will begin to be created.

Members of the Tobiu Forest Creation Project will be waiting for you during the nine days of the Tobiu Art Festival. On weekends, you can experience the atmosphere of regular forest creation, and we plan to offer guided tours of the forest, workshops, food and drink, and more.

Please come and experience the creativity that can only be found in Tobiu.
