"Roots & Arts Shiraoi" is an art festival held in Shiraoi.

This is an art festival of "handmade culture" unique to this town, where such activities live on.
This year, with the theme of "Handicrafts of Shiraoi," we will hold a special exhibition of Ainu embroidery and patchwork works, as well as a special exhibition of re-edited footage of Shiraoi from about 30 years ago, tracing the memories of people's lives.
There are special exhibitions by artists who have stayed in the town to create works, as well as an experiential exhibition where anyone can enjoy playing musical instruments, all made from materials such as discarded fishing equipment and scraps found in Shiraoi.
