<Comment on the Exhibition>

The theme is "crossroads."

It is structured around the weaknesses of humans (oneself) and the negative aspects that we have pushed ourselves into.
The painting features motifs that symbolize these things.

"Cities and homes" are symbols of the places where we live and the society that surrounds us.
"Traffic lights" are an aspect of order and restrictions in life.
A "breaker" is something that stops traffic forcibly,
On the other hand, a "bridge" that crosses the railroad tracks allows people to move freely back and forth.

And so on...

When you stand at a crossroads, stop and think about which way to go.
It depicts the people standing there and the objects that make up the situation.

For approximately 70 years, he has continued to create works in line with the times.
Among them, some things have become visible and some have disappeared.
It has been a journey supported by many people,
With gratitude, I promise to continue drawing.

The art materials will be mainly acrylic and oil paintings, and approximately 70 pieces will be exhibited this time.

Masaharu Fujii
Born in 1943 in Esutori, Sakhalin, currently living in Ebetsu City.
He joined the art club in high school, learning the basics of painting materials and drawing, and majored in design at Hokkaido University of Arts and Sciences. After graduating, he continued to paint in oil and acrylic while working as an art teacher, and was a member of the Modern Art Association, a public exhibition in Tokyo, for about 20 years. At the age of 41, he held his first solo exhibition at Art Gallery Saito (Sapporo), and continued his creative activities even after retirement, holding numerous exhibitions in Sapporo, Tokyo, Kyoto, and other places.
