Overview

It is one of the most scenic spots in Japan, with a series of sheer cliffs about 100 meters high, and on clear days you can see as far as Cape Esan and the Shimokita Peninsula. On New Year's Day, it is crowded with tourists from as far away as the Kansai region and Sapporo to see the first sunrise of the year.

*Traffic restrictions will be in place around Cape Chikyu from midnight to 8:00 on January 1st. Additionally, the Cape Chikyu parking lot will be closed.
