Shizuka Kusano Japanese Embroidery Exhibition -Adorning The Tale of Genji with Flowers-
Date and Time

10:00-17:00 (Last admission at 16:30)
・Closed: Mondays
Japanese embroidery artist Shizuka Kusano, since being captivated by Japanese embroidery, has explored its expressive possibilities for half a century. Under the belief that 'Japanese embroidery is an art that expresses the patterns of the heart', she has incorporated modern sensibilities while being rooted in tradition, and has built her own world of embroidery.
In this exhibition, we reflect on the women who appear in The Tale of Genji, and introduce embroidered works, focusing on furisode and kichō born from those images, tapestries imbued with prayers for peace, and extending to Western-style clothing and accessories. Through approximately 200 works, you will be able to enjoy the rich world of expression in Japanese embroidery that Shizuka Kusano has continued to weave.
