The Tomakomai Skate Festival is a representative event of the skating town of Tomakomai. It's a festival the whole family can enjoy, with stalls, stage events, and a giant snow slide, all of which feature the famous "Shibare-yaki" grilled in a drum can in the cold of midwinter. "Shibare-yaki" is a type of Genghis Khan (mutton mutton) grilled on a grill made from a drum can! It has been enjoyed since the first Skate Festival and is a Skate Festival specialty.

As the name suggests, the meat is grilled and eaten in the cold, and the taste is exceptional when grilled in the cold.
