「Sawayaka Shizen Hyakkei」, broadcast every Sunday from 7:45 AM on General TV.
Since the program began in 1998, it has conveyed the “characteristics” and “charm” of nature from various parts of Japan through exquisite visuals, pleasant music, and narration primarily by NHK announcers. To commemorate its 1000th broadcast in January 2026, a mini exhibition will be held at NHK Sapporo Broadcasting Station.


■1000th Broadcast Special Large Panel Exhibition
The broadcast dates, titles, featured regions, and narrators for all 1000 episodes will be introduced on a special large panel measuring 6m x 3m.

■Broadcast Records for 339 Episodes in Hokkaido! Hokkaido Map
Out of 1000 broadcasts, Hokkaido was featured 339 times. These locations are arranged on a special large Hokkaido map measuring 6m x 3m. You can see the trajectory of coverage across the entire Hokkaido region at a glance.

■Nature Program Filming Item Exhibition
In filming nature programs, accumulated know-how over many years and the latest equipment of the time are utilized to capture decisive moments. This exhibition introduces equipment actually used in filming 「Sawayaka Shizen Hyakkei」, such as a 「camouflage tent」 used to photograph the behavior of wild animals.

■Nostalgic First Episode! Enjoy 「Severe Winter - Kushiro Wetland」 on a Cathode Ray Tube TV
「Sawayaka Shizen Hyakkei」 began on April 5, 1998. The first broadcast conveyed the activities of living creatures in the Kushiro Wetland during severe winter. You can enjoy nostalgic footage on a cathode ray tube TV. The narration was by announcer Kimio Hido (at the time).

■High-Definition! Enjoy Hokkaido's 「Sawayaka Shizen Hyakkei」 in 4K Video
「Sawayaka Shizen Hyakkei」 is also broadcast on BS Premium 4K, where you can enjoy high-definition video. The 993rd episode 「Hokkaido Teuri Island's Sea Cliff」, the 997th episode 「Sapporo Makomanai River」, and the 1000th episode 「Hokkaido Soya Misaki: Autumn to Winter」 will be screened in 4K video.

■Production Director's Panel Exhibition: Untold Stories of 「Sawayaka Shizen Hyakkei」 Production
Three directors who were in charge of the Hokkaido episodes will share real episodes from the program's production, such as 「Why that location was chosen」 and 「What difficulties were encountered during filming.」 Please see the dedication and challenges of the production site.
