Hokkaido University Museum will hold the special exhibition 'Higuma × Hokudai Kumaken Exhibition ~Big Footprints, Small Steps~'. In recent years, Higuma, whose conflicts with humans have become a social issue. By learning about their unknown ecology and looking back at the journey of students who have been tracking Higuma for over 50 years, we will reconsider how we interact with Higuma.

Three-dimensional models of Higuma's hibernation dens, skeletal specimens, furs, research tools, etc., will be exhibited, and the mysterious ecology and physiology of Higuma, such as hibernation and reproduction, will be introduced, along with promoting and educating on measures to prevent Higuma-related human accidents. In addition, while looking back at the 55-year history of Hokudai Kumaken, we will introduce their past activities and future aspirations. 'Hokkaido-do: The Hokudai Kumaken Story,' broadcast by NHK Sapporo Broadcasting Station on October 25, 2024, will also be screened.
